Wow - there was a 102-year-old man as one of the contestants.Philo Vance: "The Magic Murder Case" 01/04/49
No one won the big prize ($5,000), but someone said the secret word.
Looks like the magician (the Great Mento) has quite a problem with an older magician (Pop Baker). And he's messed with is assistant (a dame who he convinced he loved who he's now just using). No surprise: he was killed in a locked room.NBC Short Story: "Scuttlebutt" by James Michener.
Pop Baker has basically challenged Philo Vance to prove that he killed Mento.
Oh, but the truth came out in other ways.... Another man killed Mento. He hid in the hiding place in a tabletop. Of course, it doesn't show how the murderer knew there would be some people coming in so that he could hide then leave afterward. What would have happened if no one had checked and the guy was stuck in the hiding place in the table for a whole day? Well, I guess that's why I'm not a magician.
Takes place on a ship in WWII. The lead is an overly optimistic man. And there's a dog that was whining who I want to hit (or, the man who's making the sound of a dog).X Minus One: "The Moon is Green" 1/02/57
The narrator says: "The time? After the next atomic war."
Oh - depressing post-WWIII (or WWIV) story. The narrator is a woman who lives with a nasty man & I think she's gone insane. She aches to look out through the lead window shades and she has a nutty conversation with some man who is telling her kind of crazy crud that everything outside is lovely and perfect.
Oh, ok: it's just a lonely man who somehow can't die who's come to just talk to this woman.... They ended up running off. Who knows if they'll live.
The announcer tells me: "And Frank Amato as 'The Cat'."
