The narrator does not use contractions. I wish Data on Star Trek had played a Damon Runyan holodeck program.
Joey's bummed because his blind friend, Benny, doesn't need him as much b/c they're hanging out with Miss Marble.
At the end, Joey reveals to Damon Runyan that he loved Miss Marble, so separated himself from the two (good thing, b/c Benny thought a woman would never love a blind man).
You find out at the very end that Miss Marble was a really ugly dame. So, first thought is that Joey was bummed that he was losing his friend, Benny, which is where his emotion came from when talking to his blind friend about her.
Second thought is that Joey really did love Miss Marble, but gave her up b/c he knew his friend Benny loved her more. But that's just ridiculous, b/c she was ugly.
