Man - punching it down is so satisfying.

Sounds delish. I'd like to make some bread.

We can switch, because right now I think I'd take your chili!

And the best thing about bread, the more you knead it, the better! Punch away!

I hope I did an ok job - I punched and lots of squishing.

It's rising for the 2nd time, ready to bake in about 25 minutes (a little on the late side, but still a late snack).

You're going to have the best smelling house on the block. :)

For the night, definitely

My next door neighbor is the staff cook at the local bookstore!

I forgot that Kevin has bread going in the bread maker. As I was reading your reply, I was smelling bread and thought my imagination was working overtime!

I can definitely see that - both scenarios!

I'm making bread too. By "making bread" I mean "loading the ingredients into the bread maker."

Oh, good - it will smell so good. I bet if I ever get the desire for homemade bread more, I should invest in one of those one day.

It just came out of the oven - err, machine.

It's very satisfying to make bread by hand from scratch, but I'm sure the machine bread tastes just as good. And if you start to get disappointed in yourself for no longer making it from scratch because you have a machine, you can always find other good stuff to bake.

I've heard from people that it tastes just as good. I have been looking at a baking page - I should think about it. On the other hand, this is the first time I've made bread since the summer, so I'll wait. Still - I've often though I should make bread on Sundays. Score!

Making your own bread by hand is pretty awesome.

This is the second recipe I've used. I've got another one that doesn't take as long (I don't remember making it rise twice). I think I'll use that next time. Fortunately, it's not like I can't find lots of bread recipes out there. :-)

Night of the Living Bread*

I used to make bread for a living in St. Paul. I enjoyed playing with the dough, but not the lifting of 120 pound batches of dough out of the mixing bowl on the floor. Almost got an honest to dawg hernia...
