Hopalong Cassidy: "Dead Man's Hand"
Hopalong's partner, California, ends up scaring the bad guy by pretending to shoot him. 'Cept, he was aiming for him (even though he was asked to not hit him); but he's such a bad shot, he missed every time. Oooh - California. What a joker!
The Alan Young Show: "Painting a Sign for the City"
I don't remember hearing this program before. Pretty funny, although kind of goofy with a completely unrealistic plot. Then again, when is that different.

The music that accompanied it was very much of the time - the show was broadcast in 1946.

Alan Young was the human in The Mr. Ed Show. huh.
First Nighter: "The One in the Middle"
A bunch of girls are taking an astronomy class with the Vice Principal, Mr. Randall. And the girls are acting all flirtatious with him. I wish I could have just figured out how to do that and got what I wanted in life. This "being yourself" thing doesn't seem to work too well in reality.

Oh - and just so you know, this whole "don't fool around with your students" thing is a recent development. Mr. Randall's sister keeps asking him which of the 17- or 18-year-old girls he's actually interested in; and that he just needs to be careful because they'll all be jealous.... Oh, good: Peter has just announced the 18-year-old girl he really likes (who was a student), and has kissed her in front of the entire class.

And I've just thanked the OTR host, Norman Gilliland, since he just noted, "I don't know how proper that plot would be today, or even if would have been considered proper when it was originally broadcast in 1948." That's good, b/c he usually doesn't mention things like that; just makes short notations about the stars, or brief statements about the plots (not how they compare to today's moral outlook).
The Whistler: "Evening Stroll"
People die less on this show once 1950 comes along.

Huh - the shooter got away with it. They never get away with it. Even though the woman who shot the girl didn't mean to.

Oh, good old Alan Young. Sounds like a lively evening all around.

Yes. Now I'm listening to the second part of "Challenge for Three" on the Silver Theater. Typical rich girl who works to fulfill her grandfather's wish for her (to become a worthy descendant), with the help of a former burlesque performer.

Oh, good: she's declared she's in love with Jack after everything's been fixed.
