I'm listening to Information, Please; an episode from 11/22/1943. On Information, Please, people write in questions, and the panelists attempt to answer them. Huh - they just informed me that the word "Hussy" comes from "Housewife".
This is the second time recently that they've played this program, and it gets me because they keep saying my name the entire time. Just figured it out, because John F. Kieran (a sports writer) was a long standing panelist on the show.

Sheila runs around with the wrong people and it breaks her dad's heart. Makes me think I've been a good daughter. The Lives of Harry Lime: "Three Farthings"
Whew - now Sheila just got her dad killed. Awww - it's soooo sad, that poor dad realizing that his daughter has completely screwed him over.
Huh - Sheila was told that the guys killed her dad, then went over there, gave 'em knock out drops, and shot one of them before calling the FBI.... I think this "take justice into your own hands" thing really worked in this case. Lots more efficient than an investigation, etc.
Cool idea: the clue to where the stolen money is hidden has been encoded in a letter and select scratchings on farthings. Harry says he knows at the end, because it has something to do with Beethoven, but I don't understand what he was talking about.Pat Novak:
Pat Novak is the only series that I can remember where an alcoholic (Jacko) is a recurring character. Pat always brings in Jacko when he gets needs some obscure piece of information. Sounds like Jacko is used for a hell of a lot of work. Fortunately for Pat Novak, he can buy Jacko's help for a few drinks.
... seriously, Jacko's a great resource. For a drunk, he sounds surprisingly sober all the time (if only a little "rummy").
