"Your invited to hook up for a discreet sexual encounter".

1.) I'm hoping that I never get to the point where I take that stuff seriously.

2.) I'm offended by the your/you're thing.

3.) I'm wondering how soon I will start to defend people who get your/you're, its/it's, whose/who's mixed up, because I gravitate so much to the underdog and anti-snobbery (although I'm still working on "whose/who's" - maybe that's also why).

Your right to say "you're" shall not be abridged.

Dad married a second generation teacher (librarian, actually) who occasionally would express a pet peeve that is rooted in 19th century American English. Ex. "We were looking foreward to a healthy dinner at The Shed." [Wrong]

The correct usage: "We were looking forward to a healthful dinner at L'Etoile."

I am so happy I was never drawn to be a librarian or English teacher - I would spend most of my days pissed off at English usage.
