Mar. 21st, 2004 10:25 amI spent the beautiful part of yesterday being taught the basics of updating our LitFest website. I register as the administrator and make the changes on-line, rather than having to upload pages on an ftp program. It gave me a certain amount of pride and interest to do this, but of course I think it's another example of how sort of lame this whole Board is. It lumbers along. I mean, they've had this site for over a year and basically wanted the site designer (who works at a Madison newspaper) to put up content. She created the site and was paid by the board, with the expectation that someone from the board would continue to put up content. But, no one either wants to write for it; or maybe they're just freaked out by the idea of working with the site. So, I was the best person for this, I suppose. The site designer works in the books review section of the newspaper, and it's a conflict of interest for her to write about the Litfest if she keeps working w/the website. Aside from the fact that she just wants the thing over with.
Well, that's fine, I can place things up there and not have to worry about the larger picture of things. Of course, I should read the damned books by the featured authors at some point soon, or at least before the liftest in Sept. (which, oh yes, takes place on 9.... eleven.... this year).
