Jan. 20th, 2009 07:18 pmI wrote, yesterday, about what we would do at 12 EST to be present for this event (the swearing-in of President Barack Obama).
I ended up going to a localwatering hole coffee shop/general store because I couldn't get the attention in the house of the guy who was supposed to be showing it to others (I was told this was common--unless you bang and bang on the door, or walk into the house, he sometimes just doesn't hear people knocking). In the end, I was very happy I went to a large, public place--the crusty-lefties weren't too obnoxious. I cried a little, and there was lots of cheering. Particularly (since we were watching CBS) when Katie Couric noted, at around 12:02 p.m. EST, that, technically, Joe Biden was President (as he'd taken the oath shortly before noon), because: at 12:00 p.m., GWBush was no longer our President.
The place erupted.
btw, I have an invite--it's something that we got b/c we gave $$; it's not like I should have been sitting in the purple section. No way I could use it, but it's all embossed 'n stuff.
Edit: and, when Obama noted that there were people in this country, the United States of America, that are nonbelievers, I let out a "Yeah!". The people nearest me chuckled. But I was happy for mda that it was acknowledged. And, well, the word just came out.
