I vacuumed my late cat's room this morning and took her left over kitty litter to the basement, where the 2 other cats have a litter box. As I was vacuuming, I thought, "awww - her little tufts of hair won't show up on this floor anymore. Awww, I won't have to clean up new puke stains." ;>

I left her little kitty condo, a cat toy, and a squishy cat bed up there. I'm not ready to get rid of them yet. It's weird to go up there and not have her come over. She's just gone, that's all.

On the one hand, I'm happy that she didn't get to that really-old cat stage, where she would be peeing inappropriately on things, but, you know.

mda wants to rent one of those industrial floor vacuums that scrubs the floor. We'll definitely have to do that if we ever want his cats to be able to go there. He says we should just leave the door open, but I think we'll have to lure them into the room w/good cat food. I think if we just left the door open that the cats would never go upstairs. As it is, I'm sure they'll always be uncomfortable walking near her door b/c it's been associated so long w/this enemy cat who would hiss at them.

I asked mda if we could wait on industrial-strength vacuuming and I told him that I don't want the cats taking over that room right away. He's ok w/that for now.

Hmmm.. I wouldn't think they'd avoid the room. I'm very sure they'll mark the hell out of it.

hmmm. That's quite possible. They've been neutered, so marking has not been much of an issue, although I saw both of them do it outside a couple of times last summer.
