I'd like to see a political science thesis written on how Dana Carvey helped delegitimize the legacy of GHW Bush... The fact that his father's wisdom was so easily reduced to a caricature gave Dubya the license to dismiss his Dad's counsel (and that of GHW Bush's advisors, like Brent Scowcroft (sp?))in the days approaching the Iraq War. The unintended consequence od comedy.

I can see your point, but I think that W's dismissal of his father has more to do with his really screwed up relationship w/his dad that has more to do with it. It would have happened either way, is what I'm thinking. Not a v. good statement of my views, but that's the easiest way to state it.

W takes his orders from our Father in Heaven (not his real father). As we know from The Onion, the voice of God in the oval office is just Cheney on the intercom ;)
