I think I have a plot. Or at least the beginning of a plot. It came to me last night before going to sleep - and it has nothing to do with FLLW. It's set in the future/dystopia and starts at a monastery (a space monastery?!). I think a Borges story is going to come into it. Now I have to get some paper and start on the plot outline/notes.

Hey, you're doing sf! You'll have to let me read it, ok?

Hey! I was hoping you would notice this post. I'll try to send you something (hopefully after successfully writing it). As one of the characters says in The Adventures of Cavalier and Clay, "It's not the who or the what: it's the why." I have to look for the why. Although I just came up w/the idea last night, so I should go easier on myself.

MONKS IN SPACE! YES!

Now I will try to avoid the whole "Canticle for Leibowitz" debacle: monks in the future following WWIII, it was a 14-part series on old time radio drama, when it should have been 1 episode. Nothing seemed to happen in that story.

Ok, I am at work and must look at Master Plan documents.

Are they Christian monks? Probably not. Too bad. I'd really like to read a story that had deadly space laser beams shooting out of Jesus's eyes. I guess I'll have to write that one myself.

There was a radio play adaptation? What an odd book to choose to adapt. I read that one back in high-school - gotta agree with the assessment that nothing really happened... The only thing I remember was the two-headed woman's second head waking up and performing last rites on the priest.

I am not doing NANO this year. Not not not; you can't make me! *sticks fingers in ears going lalalala*

"Canticle..." - yeah, isn't that weird? I think it was b/c it was the early '70s (heh). Like I wrote, NOTHING seemed to happen, then I missed 1 episode and they went from powering a lightbulb by using monks walking around on a treadmill, to nuclear power and space rockets.

No nano, no problems - [livejournal.com profile] livsmama mentioned it for 2 years before I signed on. I hope people don't have too many expectations for my novel. What the hell am I talking about?! It's a no wri in a mo!

OMG, SPACE MONASTERY!
I love you and your yet-to-be-written book.
I agree on Canticle....the only part I remember was him getting spanked for some reason.

Ok, well just remember that the space monastery (which might not be actually in outer space) is only the beginning. I think.

I don't remember the "Canticle" spanking (must have fallen asleep). I remember some lightbulb powered by priests on a treadmill, and a conference or something, and then space power. I felt kind of bad b/c I subjected mda to it week after week when it was hard for me to stay awake through it.

Ok, I've got to come up with a name for my main character in nanowrimo. I'm thinking Cass (for Cassandra). But that might be cliche.
