Didn't think I'd only score at 110, but, really, is it any surprise that my logical intelligence is below normal? ['cept on Tal., but I'm just an idiot savant when it comes to that place.]

Although I guessed at most of the verbal questions.

Still, there it is, in black and yellow: I don't suck at math.

Your IQ Is 110

Your Logical Intelligence is Below Average

Your Verbal Intelligence is Genius

Your Mathematical Intelligence is Exceptional

Your General Knowledge is Above Average

Honestly, I clicked on this, b/c I didn't even want to think about the "lustful" quiz.

The Logical Intelligence tests are broken. I tried all answers and couldn't get better than "Below Average". Scared me a bit at first...

I must be a genius, then!

Your actions to test the logic section of the test were, needless so say, very logical.

I'd considered that as well. Insead, I'm going to have to mathematically model the relative worth of volumes of coins.

there are much better tests.

I got sucked into 1 (from "Tickle") and it told me what I've figured for a long time - an I.Q. at 120 (I read an assessment that combined grades and SATs scores to give rough IQ scores). Smart but no genius.

Yes, and that coins-in-a-trunk question: I could see someone actually taking a long time to figure that out (sort of like what Lawrence Pritchard Waterhouse from Cryptonomicon would do). It did occur to me that since dimes are smaller, there would be more of them in a trunk, but I figured i knew what they were looking for in terms of an answer.

My spam intake went up tremendously after doing the tickle IQ test. Which made me deduct 30 points, since I should really know better.

I'm half-way through reading Cryptonomicon... Waterhouse is a great character. I'm pretty sure he's supposed to have Asperger's Syndrome, actually. I've been told that I might have it too, for what it's worth.

I just recently realized that Bobby Shafto(e) is immortalized in poetry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Shafto). That's why I had Lawrence Pritchard Waterhouse in my mind, I think. I want to read that book again, but it's got so much in it, I'll have to really devote my attention to it.

If you dont' mind me asking, why have people told you that you have AS? What behaviors have you exhibited that would give them that idea? If you don't want to answer, that's fine. And, oh shit, I just checked the time, so I'm going to be sleeping for a few hours here.

Huh. I didn't realize that Shaftoe was anything other than a Cryptonomicon character. That book is just chock full of stuff!

Well, it's probably easier to see it if a) you're familiar with Aspergers and b) have seen me interact with people in real life. I might not even have it... hard to say. It seems somewhat fashionable for people to think they have AS, lately, but I think some of that may be that people are realizing that their eccentricities might actually be more than they seemed. It's only been in the past few years that most people have heard of AS.

To answer your question, hmm, let's see. I have almost no ability to interact with people emotionally/instinctually. I can understand that smile means happy and pout means angry or whatever, but that's more of a logical association than the way most people intuitively recognize these things. I can communicate on an intellectual level, certainly, but have a lot of trouble talking to people on any other level. Talk to me about sports or how boring your day was and I'm fortunate if I can stay focussed. Get me talking on certain pet subjects and I'll never shut up... those subjects are reflected in my LJ. I guess everyone is like this in some ways, but AS people tend to be extreme.

Pretty much all the descriptors of AS on the wikipedia page above fit me, though I'm certainly not an extreme case. And none of this is officially diagnosed, mind you. For all I know, I could just be your typical pedantic, intellectualizing, clumsy, socially awkward eccentric wananbe genius haha. Without having met you in person, and without meaning to offend you (though there is no reason why it should), let me say that it would not surprise me if you exhibited some of the same traits. Since discovering AS, I've started noticing a lot of people who may have AS tendencies. It's interesting stuff.

I heard a folk song with the subject of Bobby Shaftoe last week, and that was the first I ever considered the fact that he wasn't just an invented character.

Obviously, I can't say what your social interactions are like,; although what you wrote about your understanding of facial expressions fits into the description on wikipedia. I'm overly empathetic, so that seems to knock AS down. I'm afraid I am just socially awkward.

One of the women that used to be on my f-list had a son with AS, and she described a few things with him that certainly seemed difficult to deal with sometimes; at other points, he was incredibly intense and focused.

From my reading of it, it seems like AS represents part of the spectrum of social interaction and mental cognition, if on the extreme level. Interesting.

No, no - it's v. important for me not to be a genius. I don't have to worry about all that "unfulfilled potential" (and I can't tell myself that my sister's wrong). THanks for the vote, though. I must come of pretty smart.

Hell - we're all smart! We're remarkable!

They should come up with a Lust Quotient, as if it's a good thing to be over 100 ;P~~

Well, we should form a club (granted, you roll over me in the mathematical intelligence category).

Your math intelligence is exceptional... That ain't "chopped livah." As if this was nay real test of intelligence. My 135 means nothing. It's a fluke... A very pleasant bu meaningless surprise...

We could call the club "The Non Sequiturs" and our mascot could be Dustin Hoffman as "Rainman" :)
