what to say, what to say....

Well, I saw the fabulous
kalimama on Wednesday, as she was hosted at the home of
wi_c and
jujupees and their daughter, Z. I love their place. I see it as this legend that's building right now - the place you can always go to and almost always feel totally welcome, at home. It's such a great vibe.
I don't know what it is about that kalimama, but I never fear the shyness around an internet buddy as I do around other people. There are always things to talk about, and we talked about our families near and far, and good stuff, just good stuff. She's doing really well, and gave props to her hubby B for helping her on this journey. At one point, I said to her that it seems like she and B have grown really nicely together and individually this year, and she confirmed it. The tide has turned for them, and it was due to some luck (her getting her current job - not that she didn't have the skills, but sometimes getting a job is just damned luck), but also due to good choices on both of their parts.
No CRAZY TRAIN!
kalimama went with wi_c to band practice, and mda and I watched Z practice the violin. Her teacher is really good - she's got a 5 yo girl and is making the beginning of violin lessons FUN. And she's teaching skills, I think, that will be w/the girl for a long time. A lot different than, "this is a whole note, this is a quarter note, just memorize FACE and Every Good Boy Does Fine because that's your job now." Z then took questions from the audience. It was really cool watching jujupees be the patient teacher - reminding Z how to hold her bow, how to stand and "shine", and just be a totally cool mom.
mda & I met up with wi_c, kalimama, maxchaos, and nadine_a (and available spouses) later that night at the local bar, which we ended up closing (and ended up listening to the wide variety of music they've got on the jukebox there including the local faves Boxelder-now-Dear August, and Janet Jackson, put on the jukebox JUST FOR ME; like there'd be anyone else that we know who has an interest in Janet, or at least an interest as intense as mine).
Some notes of interest:
kalimama and
maxchaos can shoot darts like hell on fire, but only when they're sober, and kalimama was not anywhere near sober by the end of the night.
wi_c is, as usual, fantastic at chasing off unwanted people with some very simple moves. Seems that mda had encountered a bimbo with nothing to contribute to the conversation. I know the guy - he can find anyone interesting and can tease out details of their lives that make him fascinated. So when I see him deep in conversation w/someone, I let him alone b/c they might be talking aobut anything intently. Wasn't the case here. You know it's bad when mda turns to you and says, "Please RESCUE ME." I had no idea what to do, so I went to the people expert [wi_c]. Problem solved in like 3 minutes - the guy left. Then mda got to hang with maxchaos's partner, M, and got some lurv from the lady herself for his trying to deal with her monitor problem.
I got lots of high-fives due to the news of no can-sa that day, which I'm v. grateful for. Aww, guys, I'm glad you're not treating this as hypochondriacal.
Got to listen to some good tunes.
Witnessed maxchaos's ability to create a forcefield around her body that says, "Am I talking to you? Am I interested in talking to you? NO. LEAVE ME ALONE." I marvel.
was sooo happy to talk to maxchaos who is so funny and so smart and so fast with her quips and so cute. And, yeah, I got to watch kalimama humping maxchaos, but that was just one of many dancing moves.
Got introduced to "passing the booty," coming from maxchaos. That was worth a trip. We almost lost wi_c as he left chasing booty (but he came back, a'course). I'd tell you how to pass the booty, but sorry, it's much funnier just to see it.
You gotta love Carla (the bartender - she's in m'book!). She puts up w/us, and can tell when people in the bar are trouble or just being silly. SHe gave us darts when ours were busting and let our folks throw them only in the general direction of the dart board, and handled it all with her style (which may seem at points like she doesn't like you, but that's just C).
Last point of the night was the phrase "in my pants," which works like the "fortune cookie" game. Works in all situations [in my pants].
The End.

Date: 2006-09-30 05:39 pm (UTC)Yeah, it was fun. I hear the good stuff about you from jujupees & wi_c, so it was good to see everything in action (it's been so long, after all, since I've actually seen you in the flesh). And, no, you didn't give the fuck-off forcefield to anyone Of Importance.
