Happy Gay Pride Day

Today is the 37th anniversary of the beginning of the Stonewall riots. I was hoping that Google would do something to mark the day, but then I realized - they already have sort of rainbow colors anyway on their logo, anyway. O.M.G. Google is gay!

I have to say that when I saw today's date--June 29--something tickled in my brain, and I knew there was something I should remember. Gay pride day came to mind but I wanted to check it. However, looking briefly at google, I couldn't find anything about the specific dates that the riots started. Where did I find it? "Kids' Turn Central," "The purpose of Kids' Turn Central is to give youth a safe place to talk, share and learn. It's the kids turn to participate and build a site they want. The loyal visitors at Kids' Exchange have joined me to start building that place." Gay Pride Day is under "Holidays". I'm surprised the woman hasn't been thrown to wolves by crazed fundamentalists. "SHE'S TALKING ABOUT GAY 'PRIDE' TO CHILDREN!!!!!!!"

Obviously, it looks like the kids asked the question and that's why the info is there. Still, I can't imagine some senator not throwing snot and spittle all over the congress floor in his [her?] apoplectic fit of rage.

Edit: Well, damn me. Turns out the Stonewall Riots started on June 28, at least according to Wikipedia. Damn. I'm slipping. Totally.

Check out Ruralrob's photojournal post about Toronto's Pride Parade last Sunday. Um, there's no full nudity, but the pics are probably not work safe all the same.
