I'm printing out the book, Death by Design, for the next phase of editing--it's red ink time.

wish me luck--here I go.

Although it's nice to see how hefty that mother is. It's 1 1/8"! Which actually looks a lot heftier than it sounds.

Did my editing notes come in handy at all?

I haven't even looked at my novel since November *sigh*

Yes, they've helped, although I don't know if I've been able to implement them at all! I'm hoping that will come somewhere in this part of the editing process.

Did you look at your novel after you were done in 2004? (I still have the projcet of reading that novel in the back of my mind, btw).

I started editing Harvester 17 in March or so of 2005 -- got about two-thirds of the way through. But I got to a point where a few people wanted to read it, so I stopped editing in anticipation of getting their feedback. By the time I got it all, I had lost interest in editing. Still have the notes sitting around, ready to implement.

Honestly, I think it's much more fun and interesting writing novels than it is editing. I suppose I'm pretty lazy too, as these things go.

"Honestly, I think it's much more fun and interesting writing novels than it is editing." And in that impulse, you are certainly not alone. There's probably some easy quip that talks aobut the percentage of time writing vs. time editing, but I can't think of it off hand.

mda hasn't gotten past the first chapter of my novel b/c he knows I've changed it so much. "You killed off Stacy!" he kids me, "She was the most interesting character, and she had the thing to do with the guy in that place!" (actually, I've changed some of the writing, but not really the plot).

heh--speaking of--I should really get back to it. I'm about a quarter of the way through this edit. Then I've got to type those ideas back in. I would hire some high school student to do it, but I think there will be points where only I can understand the notes I'm writing.
