Apr. 18th, 2005 08:37 amI spent yesterday, once again, rooting out brambles. It's one of the few things I can do this time of year. There is actually a path that now exists that's about 10 feet wide and maybe 100 feet long that has been cleared by me. Actually, I'm waiting for brambles to pop up from their hiding place underneath the leaves. They really do go crazy, like rows of razor wire on the top of prison fences.
Aside from the odd bits of metal and occasional beer bottle, I found a bone yesterday. It looks like a soup bone, so I don't think that I will be coming across Aunt Edna at any time.
I also found these really cool plants that look like hostas, with very light veins on a dark green background. They're happily growing along a hill. I moved some of the leaves away from them and tried to find them in books, but of course I'm terrible at that stuff. Plus, they could flower, we don't know, so that makes identification mroe difficult. Anyway, I was excited to think that it was my work over 3 summers [shit] that allowed us to get back to this area.
As for the weeds, I'm goin' round up on their asses, and v.soon.
Mda got 2 movies at the local gas station--_Elektra_ & _Flight of the Phoenix_. Neither were great, neither were horrible. There was a few embarrassing moments of dialog. And Jennifer Garner got death kissed by another woman. Giovanni Ribisi plays a, shall we say, socially awkward character in "Phoenix". He's a bit of a prick, too. One review I read described him as having channeled his Hannibel Lector. I am pleased to note that the character, for reasons I can't fully understand, reminded me of my ex-fiance. I think it was the prick-ness, exactitude, and Ribisi's way of insulting and demanding in a completely unself-conscious, prissy way. It's good to remember what an asshole that guy was every once in awhile. Sometimes I think I must have exagerrated it.

Date: 2005-04-18 03:09 pm (UTC)The previews for "Flight of the Phoenix" made it look pretty good until it turned into "Mad Max". Elektra would have been better if they'd let the villains be villainous for a while before geting squashed.

Date: 2005-04-19 02:39 am (UTC)The reviews suggested that the Jimmy Stewart version is better. Surprising, I know.
