The Case of the Magic Murder

Well, a brain operation occurred over the phone, which is quite unbelievable. Would you want someone operating on your brain while having a guy on the phone telling the surgeon, "now, move the scalpel 2 cm up at a 45 degree angle," if that person had never seen an x-ray of what your brain looked like? Ah, well, this was 1950 episode, so brain surgery was pretty unknown. I guess they could get pretty outrageous. I doubt they had any consulting surgeons on staff, anyway.

And a scientist planned an ingenius murder scheme b/c he had been party to an enemy gov't and didn't want to be discovered. Who knows what secrets he would give away? Except, of course, that anyone who calls "counterspy headquarters" is greeted by a secretary saying, "counterspy headquarters". Not too secret.

Other than that, I think that the person who wrote this had a hangover and needed to take up as much time as possible any way they could. So there was 7 minutes or so of dialog surrounding an overseas phone call.

"This is counterspy headquarters calling Caracas."
[operator] "Counterspy headquarters, this is Caracas."
"Counterspy chief Dalton is trying to reach Dr. so-and-so."
Then we are witness to three overseas operators relating information, as well as call codes, and the importance of making appointments for the overseas calls.

Brilliant way to take up time.

Other than that, I heard 2 Pepsi commercials. Apparently, in 1950, a 12 oz can of Pepsi was a great bargain, b/c it was 2 servings. No wonder we have such a weight problem now. Oh! but Pepsi is a good energy food. A common draw in these old commercials. Sugar and fat--good energy foods.
