what was I going to say?
Dec. 9th, 2004 07:51 pmOh, well there are dishes.
And I haven't practiced the flute.
I'm reading The Moor's Last Sigh, by Salman Rushdie. He reminds me of Eco. And Borges.
But the thing I can remember that I wanted to say was that I went to my second service at the Unitarian Meeting House last Sunday. I even remembered to write a donation check (I was going to give $2, but I would have had to go to the ATM, and that would have taken too much time, and I don't want them to think I'm giving them 10,000 years worth of condoms, so...). I gave 'em $5. I figure I make it in good faith. $2.50 a pop, or maybe more.
They had 2 people leading the service, talking a bit, or around, eco-spirituality. But it came back to the same thing of being connected to the world. That made me look at the trees outside.
There was a guy playing a wooden Japanese-y flute for music, so no organ music to freak me out. The choral did 1 piece called Fences that, seriously, these people weren't made for.
But overall it was really nice, and I found myself very happy to be there. They led a good meditation, too.
They're expanding the building, and the architects are going to be taking a tour of Tal., and I'm going to be 1 of the tour leaders. This came through work, not through the Unitarian Mtg Hse.
Oh, and afterwards I went to the nearby Borders bookstore, bought some cards to send for the holidays, and briefly checked out a new FLLW biography. It's written by a Pulitzer-prize winner for the "Penguin lives" series. I'll have to read it when it comes out, but I was livid because:
there are no photos
there is no table of contents
AND THE WORST:
There does not appear to be an index or a bibliography
Oh god. Oh Frank. I'll have to see it again and see if I was not mistaken. Oh, Frank help us if I'm right.
