From ThinkGeek:
A dog named Robot is pretty awesome. A dog named Robot in 1940 is crazy awesome. A dog named Robot in 1940 who goes down a hole and finds 17,000 year old cave paintings? That's Lascaux for you. Today's the 74th anniversary of the day 4 teenagers (and a dog named Robot) discovered the magnificent Paleolithic cave paintings. Best dog walk evar.

Oh yeah - I forgot about that dog (it's been too long since I watched Dr. Who).

Talk about serendipity! It's exciting to know that some of my ancestors might have heard of or helped paint the Lascaux art. I had a Genographic DNA analysis done and the narrative traced my Y chromosome to that region of France. It's not exact and that marker is pretty common among people of Euro descent.

That's pretty neat. I was looking up some things about the cave paintings at Lascaux on Wikipedia, & access is greatly restricted now. And they created a facsimile of the cave paintings not that far from the originals - I'm jealous of that much devotion to something of such importance to world culture.
