I don't think, personally, it is noise levels that distract me, it is more my own ability to tune out, and focus down....so I can write poetry on a train (often train related!), despite the people crowded around me, or the noise, or anything, because I divorce myself from that context......
....I sometimes work with my ipod on, and I know when I have been working really hard, because I don't recall what was on my ipod, and even practically forget it is going....the world becomes a wall of noise, behind which my consciousness, my focus, crouches, stalking words, phrases, and terms....
