Jul. 26th, 2004 08:15 amLast night I volunteered at the first of the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society gigs at the Hillside theater on the estate). All of the composers/pieces are Czech or born in Czechoslovakia, so there was a Dvorak quintet yesterday. I like the shows but volunteered mostly so that mda could get a free ticket (he's the classical music man, after all). I didn't feel like I was doing much as a volunteer, though. No one told me what to do, I picked up some porgrams and tried to shove them at people, tried to get people to go to the upper seating area (most did not). This area is to the right and is only accessible from the bottom row, so if people come in later, they'll be stepping all over the people in that row, and the railing right in front of them (in the area that stands over the stage) is mid-calf length. I'm really surprised that no one's ever just taken a dive onto the piano.
Anyway, I feel like I cheated to get into this thing with as little as I had to do. I'm certainly signing up again.
