Well, once again I was sort of slammed in the head by something to do w/LitFest. I went over to someone's house last night for the nominating committee meeting. I figured we'd sit around and talk about who we knew who would make a good board member. Well, we did that eventually, but first we talked about nominating people w/in the board to be officers. And most people don't want to be officers, including myself ("I'm not a leader" is what I told them, and that's certainly correct). But I did tell them I would be on the board another year. That's mainly b/c my friend M will be on it at least for a while next year.

Anyway, that's about it. I road in someone's Prius yesterday (I think it was--it was 1 of the hybrids). Aside from the fact that when you turn it on, the battery is powering it, so it's totally quiet, you turn it on w/a button. And the key is your remote key lock, and it fits into this rectangular slot like a computer card. So cool. oooo.

the battery is powering it,

a friend got one of those hybrids,i like the notion, but am leery of the possibility that it will be a throw away car, two minor accidents already cost a bundle, what it will be like to maintain beyond the warranty is a concern of mine,..o.o

I'd rather have a hybrid throwaway car than a not hybrid. The cars I drive are usually totalled after one accident as well. 'corse they were a ford aspire and a ford escort...

a ford aspire and a ford escort.

yeah, most of the new cars are tossers, thats sad,..but my main concern is the technology in theses cars make them almost impossible for tho owner to do maintenance,.. my friends last scheduled maintenance cost her 600 bucks! thats more than i've ever payed for a car,.. but i'm a motor-head and work on my own,.

Oh, yes, those are concerns. I had this idea one time that someone should manufacture modern cars, but cars that are able to be tinkered w/by their owners like old cars. Of course, that defeats the capitalist purpose of the whole thing, what with people fixing their own cars and keeping them for 20 years. Still, it's nice to think about.

Reminds me of one of the old time radio shows I was listening to on Sunday. The commercial was for Kellogg's Pep, which was wrapped in a "bag made of real aluminum." The announcer was telling the kids that mom could reuse the bag to wrap sandwiches in. Um.

But is it roomy? A guy who owns one told me there would be no problem putting two car seats and an adult in the back, but I am doubtful.

But is it roomy?

when you have two car seats, do you really think we care about boxy? plus, I think they are kind of cute :)

Yeah, it looked roomy in the back. In fact, Flinty Jim sat in the back and he's about 6' tall. I don't know about the trunk. It certainly had more room than my Nissan Sentra, but that's not saying much.

Well, I guess they are backed up on new orders until 2005, so we will have to wait. and we don't need a new car yet...but fun to ride in one!
