Seattleforge pointed me toward the BBC series, "The Supersizers Eat...". Food critic, Giles Coren, & broadcaster, Sue Perkins, delve into periods in British history for a week, eating the food of that time & partaking in the pastimes of the day.

I just saw the episode in which they ate food from the Restoration. No water, lots of alcohol, no vegetables, and lots of meat. At the end of the week, Giles tells us that he'd eaten 80 different animals and drank 20 liters of alcohol.
I'm finding it incredible that people lived longer than 25 years in the late 17th century.
