It's quite complicated. Maybe because Rick Reed (the GH) has gone to D.C. Luckily, Rick Reed already had his valet drop off a sign of the GH on a door. The Clock: "Dr. Carter's Experiment" 02/23/47
There are already 2 dead people, and Reed is working several angles (I've no idea why he always has to act like a jerk).
Oh, goodness, a scientist might have some problems coming up. That's what host Norman Gilliland tells me.Inner Sanctum: "Elixir Number four" 02/12/46
The narrator finds that hardened criminals really hate him. Wonder what's going to happen with that. Oops - there's been a jail break, and a screw got shot.
Dr. Carter is talking to... his wife? I thought it was his daughter, but they keep calling each other "darling".... Oh my god, yes: even though they keep calling each other "darling" they're father & daughter. That's an old way of addressing your parent that I haven't heard of before? Like calling your spouse "mother" or "father"?
Anyway, the homicidal maniacs have some into Dr. Carter's place and are scaring the daughter. Dr. Carter seems pretty calm. Even after they killed his guinea pig. And now his daughter's just told him they're planning to kill them. Aww - and they've knocked over his stuff. Ooh - and 2 of the guys knocked over tubes of Bubonic plague and got some of it on them. Looks like the bad guys aren't getting out of there.
.... Looks like working on Bubonic plague is helpful (and fortunately, he'd worked out a vaccine for it, which he and his daughter have been taking).
Oh, and about the time they decided to "take the vaccine", they got shot up with morphine.
Ah! It wasn't Bubonic plague as he'd told the crooks - he's been trying to find a cure for the common cold. They got colds, thought it was the Bubonic plague, and he took them down with morphine. Smartie!
Host Norman Gilliland tells us about the upcoming episode: "In elixir #4, I have the secret to everlasting life.... Could be a drawback... or two."Once Upon a Midnight: "Malice Aforethought" 05/11/45
I can only hope that it's hosted by Lipton Tea since the Lipton Tea lady is so enjoyable while cheerily talking to the creepy host of Inner Sanctum.... Yes! Remember, Lipton Tea is always spirited and full-flavored (never flat or insipid).
Oh yeah - I remember this episode. I forget the whole plot, but it's got to do with one of those things where someone kills for the formula for everlasting life but it's a really really bad idea.
Lipton Tea lady is promising us so much with Lipton Tea I think that she's talking about some crazy drug (caffeine x10).
So, this woman's father (the man who invented elixer #4) has disappeared and the daughter wants to contact her father through a medium. Um - how come they haven't gone to the police?
Oh - yes: he kills the doctor and gets caught (because the doctor always tape recorded everything in the lab, so the daughter had gone to the cops; this was all part of the plan of catching the murderer). The sentence was "life in prison". Although I would think after several hundred years he could break out. Oh, unless this is one of those Greek mythology things: "you should have wished for eternal youth not eternal life!"
Looks like this will bring us a little Alfred Hitchcock.
"Murder is a serious business," Hitchcock tells us. Well, of course: it's Hitchcock.
Bickley's married to a real b*tch and he's just realized he wants to kill her. Bickley likes to fantasize about being the greatest at everything. And I only fantasize about being all-powerful (like Q, you know).
Oh, now Bickley's fallen in love with a 23-year-old (Miss Cranmire). She's not supposed to be really pretty but she certainly sounds pretty. Looks like Miss Cranmire is also independently wealthy. And she needs a sleeping potion (Dr. Bickley's just fine with giving her a prescription no problem).
Oh, and Miss Cranmire just got engaged to someone else. And this lead Bickley to let out that he'd just killed his wife (morphine again).
