likethebeer: (I am disappearing but not fast enough)
Reading the intro to Fire in the Belly, by author Cynthia Carr, she wrote: "I met him in 1982 and interviewed him in 1990 for a Village Voice cover story."1 My breath caught in my throat: I know exactly what article she's talking about: it was the first time I'd ever heard of Woj. This woman (&, of course, the artist) had a direct & profound impact on my life: 4 ½ years after I read her article, I defended my Master's Thesis about the man's art.

Here's a nice review of the book:

Natch, his 1992 untitled piece2 with the text from an essay, "Spiral", is my "art" icon (above).

2I do wish the dude had given more of his artworks TITLES for chrissakes. It's annoying.
