likethebeer: (Old time radio)
Burns & Allen: "with Ray Milland"
It's a war bond show, in which Gracie convinces Ray Milland to marry a friend of hers. I have to say I saw Gracie as acting sort of insane, which is usually not how it works (you just kind of see her as nutty). Well, I've got to get over that, b/c that just makes me sound crazy.
Academy Award Theater: "Guest in the House"
Evelyn is a crazy, annoying woman who comes with the man she loves (Dan) and will probably freak out the family.

Oh, and Douglas has just come back with Anne after getting high (drunk). "I took a drive to sober up." I always like it when they drive to sober up.

Yes, it's gone all wrong, because they're all living with a neurotic (Evelyn).

Evelyn says, "She hates me because she's jealous." So nice that women can say that.

"Douglas, don't leave me. I'll die I tell you - I'll die!" Good, you go ahead and do that. Now I'm confused - there's Dan and there's Douglas; Evelyn and Ann - ok, who's who and how do they all fit together?

Ok - well Aunt Margaret used Evelyn's hatred of birds to force Evelyn to jump off a cliff.... Somehow, I think if this show were an hour instead of a half-hour it would have made some sense.
Michael Shayne: "The Crooked Wheel"
Irish, red-head, and crazy (that's what the narrator tells me so he's gotta be right).

Michael's working on who, in a casino, is stealing from the owner. He seems to be getting into fights. "Michael Shayne: a guy head deep in nothing."
Inner Sanctum: "The Lonely Sleep"
Archie's in a department store, working at night. You can just see that it's going to be creepy with a manikin, aren't you? 'Though Archie is talking to the manikin about how nobody likes him. Well, Esther (the real Esther as opposed to the manikin he calls Esther) is kind of bitchy, so when he kills her that's not going to be a problem (even though he's kind of creepy).

yup - strangulation.... And he's got the idea that he's going to put her in the window display to hide that he killed her.

The next day, his display of Esther (dead in the bed) is really selling mattresses. So he can't change the display, so he's going to have to kill someone else. Luckily for him, a woman came to the door b/c it's raining and she came in to get warm & dry.

Luckily, she didn't get killed, and Archie died in a car crash. He said he was really lonely as he died. Huh - and the story comes from 1945 - I'm used to things being a lot more violent in the 40s (people getting shot, or the last moment, "I'm going to find you to be a creepy murderer" right before the end). I guess it was b/c it was right after the end of WWII.
Dimension X: "And the Moon Be Still as Bright"
Earthmen have gotten to Mars, where all the Martians have died from the Chicken Pox, and are acting like jerks.

huh - Biggs went through the DTs before going back to sleep. I think Biggs isn't astronaut material.

And Spender, who's been upset by all the drunkenness has gone into the hills, gone native, and has started killing the astronauts. I don't know what's what.... Well, Spender had to be killed.

Parkhill became an a**hole (knocking out the chrystal windows of the ancient city - that's what drove Spender to killing); so the Captain (who seemed to like Spender and understand where he was coming from) almost knocked Parkhill's teeth out. Which is what Spender did to Biggs, so maybe that's supposed to mean something.
