I've finally realized something
Mar. 17th, 2008 08:49 pmLiving in the world right now means having to deal with a whole lot of things that I have absolutely no control over. Let's see....
Iraq
Afghanistan
Tibet
Global warming (aside from everything else--OMG the permafrost is going to melt & flood the atmosphere with methane!!!)
The national economic meltdown (which personally affects me in that, a.] I work at a tourist place, dependent on people walking in the door--altho we do already have 44 groups scheduled for the upcoming season--and b.] there are people over me who make decisions about this place that I may not be able to affect)
The pathology of certain family members
Sure, I can work at things, and write letters, but really, most times I fantasize about being the all-powerful Oz (or Q). But I'm incapable at this time.
So I'm just trying to keep my head down at this point. And thinking that staying away from all news sources might do me some good. Mentally at least.
No wonder I walk around uncomfortable most of the time.
Oh, but I just called 3 phone numbers trying to wish my father a happy birthday (the 15/16th's Irishman on St. Patrick's Day), but was unsuccessful. That I can blame on my parents b/c they don't use answering machines or keep their damned cell phones on.
