I've had nothing much to report. The weather is all the sudden summery w/brilliant greens and blue skies (and soon-to-be anxious farmers if we don't get some good dousings) and I've been coming home and sitting on the back lately. Taking a 20 min. walk at dusk (in which mda & I were greeted by a whole bunch of curious cows on their side of the fence last night). And as it's around the solstice, the sky hasn't been getting really dark until near 10, but I'm outside or walking. Not v. good for the (non-existent) flute practicing.

My reading material on the deck? FLLW: A Biography, by Meryle Secrest. JE-SUS! I just haven't been able to get to the library to look for anything on the fiction/summer reading front. So I'm reading about FLLW. For the 3rd time. At least.

As a result, I now have a pretty good timetable of where he was from April 1925 until about May 1929, and how much time he spent on his house after the second fire. I get to shave a year off of a bunch of photographs! I mean, their possible beginning dates were 1928; since FLLW wasn't home in 1928 (nor, really, 1927, and only about 3 mos of 1926), the earliest date for the photos are 1929. It's all fascinating stuff, I know.

Ok, shower.

Microsoft Continues Movement To Crush Unix/Linux

"Microsoft announced yesterday they completed the acquisition of Sybari. In their statement, at the very bottom, Microsoft said they would discontinue Antigen sales for Unix/Linux products. There were a number of other aspects to the press release but that little sentence had the most impact.

Microsoft said the Sybari acquisition will give enterprise customers a much more secure system by adding critical security components and that Sybari would support the Windows platform. But now they won't support the Linux/Unix platforms."
