Solstice

So we had a Summer Solstice ritual at another woman's house whose never held a ritual before. That's ok, b/c mda's friend, Jeff, has everything in hand. I seem to remember the Summer Solstice being a little more spiritual, but I think that's because last night was chillier than we expected, and a little breezy. But we dressed in bright clothes, with garlands and stickers on our faces & bodies. We wrote our wishes on a piece of paper in red ink, smeared the paper with honey and placed it into a fire, while saying a little thing about giving the wish to the flames. I almost always forget what I wish for each year, although 1 year I wished for my parents' health. Mda worked on his wish for, it must have been, 5 minutes.

There's 1 woman who has been friends w/Jeff since grade school, C, and she's married to a man from India. He's totally cool, and I like seeing him around. Anyway, he came to his first ceremony in February. This is after I've been going to these ceremonies since '98 (JEEZ!). And he said that he wanted to be there more for his family. And he's been to the ceremonies since then. I think that's just great.

Garageilific

we can actually SEE one corner of our garage right now! ANd I just hammered out about 20 nails from boards, and used an awl and a C-clamp, all quite expertly. I'm feeling totally hot right now.
