A couple of years ago, I wrote a Nanowrimo novel in which the main character writes cursive, and teaches someone else to do it. It's linked to security. I see I stumbled across something interesting.

Having learned cursive, I still find many historical documents illegible. Interesting how it becomes status.

It is rumored that Jack Kerouac cursed in cursive, which isn't easy. If he hadn't died too soon, he could have used the IBM Selectric typewriter, which had a simulated cursive typeface ball.

No, that wouldn't be easy! I'm sure I did it a lot while writing letters to friends but it's not pretty and there are lots of heavy-handed writing (and underlining).

Reading/understanding old documents will be, I think, a part of learning about archival research that people will have to learn.
