Man, people used to know a lot - sports (pivotal games from the past), poetry, plays, literature, the Bible, the card game of Bridge, popular music, and what's on Broadway right then. Totally beats "Says You!"

And I've just figured out why our grandmother would always make us sandwiches with butter (instead of mustard or... anything besides butter, please: this is a ham sandwich): the program comes from 1943, and there's a commercial from Heinz to use mustard on your sandwich instead of butter. My grandmother was born in 1897. Maybe she grew up with that culinary attitude; and was bound to it once war rationing stopped.
