Even though it is the highpoint of celebration for the Catholic (& all Christian) churches, there is the weirdness that this comes to a climax because of the torture & crucifixion of Jesus.

an unsinkable opulent ship, sinks on maiden voyage, and the rich survive, and the poor die, and the owner of the shipping line decides to escape to safely - rather than go down with all the other men......sounds like a morality play.....and lazy script writing....
